The Jolly Drayman at The Briar Lea Inn - is located in the Mahoosuc mountains just one minute outside the quaint historic village of Bethel, five miles from the renowned New England ski area Sunday River, and six miles from Ski Mt. Abram.

In winter - Sunday River Ski Resort has 126 downhill trails with 20 lifts. Ski Mt. Abram has 30 downhill trails and is expanding. There are three major cross country ski centers in the area as well as cross country and snowshoeing trails out our back door. Two snowmobile rental and guide centers are also available nearby.

In summer - you can hike many trails in the area including the Appalachian trail in the White Mountain National Forest. Evans Notch and Grafton Notch State Park also offer numerous trails for all levels of experience. Try Canoeing or kayaking the Androscoggin and Wild rivers. Mountain bike, play golf, visit historic sites, visit  local artist Tom White who has gained notoriety around the world for his bronze sculptures, see him on the web at http://www.tomwhitestudio.com, or just go hunting for that bargain antique. Play golf at the new Robert Trent Jones Jr. course at Sunday River or at The Bethel Inn Country Club.

Our restaurant - The Jolly Drayman English Pub and Restaurant provides a casual atmosphere serving dinner. We have great beers on tap or by the bottle and a superb selection of wines and spirits. We prepare all of our dishes with the freshest quality meats, fish and produce. All meats are hand trimmed and cooked with a minimum of oils. Appetizers and entrees are creatively prepared with an international flavor.

The Inn - Experience the comfort and ambiance of this 150 year old renovated Maine farmhouse. Our six cozy rooms all have private baths with hair dryers, phones, cable TV with a DVD player and a free DVD library for you to choose from and wireless internet access. We have central air conditioning and casual eclectic antique decor. Queen, king and twin size beds are available.
